• The Short Story: The 23rd-ranked Johns Hopkins men's tennis team handed host Franklin & Marshall a 7-2 loss on Wednesday afternoon to remain undefeated in Centennial Conference play.
How it Happened
• The Diplomats grabbed the first point of the match when Sam Bellersen and Jack Rothman beat sophomores Joe Cartledge and Austin Gu, 8-6, at first doubles.
• Senior Justin Kang and junior Scott Thygesen answered with an 8-5 win at second over Isaac Salas and Zack Levin to tie the match. Sophomore Vik Vasan ad freshman Alex Matisse then gave the Blue Jays the lead with a 9-8 (7) win over Andrew Pace and Will Samuels at third.
• Salas claimed the first singles point and tied the match for Franklin & Marshall after he beat freshman Eric Yoo 6-0, 6-2 at second. Kang followed with a 6-1, 6-1 win over Bellersen at fourth to put Hopkins back on top, 3-2.
• Thygesen then defeated Rothman 6-3, 6-4 at first and the lead was 4-2. Gu clinched the win when he came from behind to beat Levin 4-6, 6-4, 6-0 at fourth.
• Freshman Matt Lurie followed with a 6-0, 6-3 victory at sixth over Pace to make it a 6-2 match. Cartledge closed out the match with a come-from-behind win at fifth. Samuels won the first set 6-4, but Cartledge took the second 6-2 and then won the match with a third-set tiebreaker win (10-8).
What it Means
• Hopkins wins its 17th straight against Franklin & Marshall and improves to 25-28 all-time against the Dips.

• Hopkins returns to action on Saturday, April 21 with a pair of matches. Hopkins will host Ursinus at home at Noon and then make the short trip to Goucher for a 4:00 pm non-conference contest.
