• The Short Story:
Alex Ross pitched another gem on the mound allowing just three runs on five hits, however, the Johns Hopkins baseball team fell to Franklin & Marshall on the road on Friday night by a score of 3-1.
How it Happened
• Both pitchers were dealing throughout the game as Ross and Cole kept the hits and runs to a minimum.
• The Blue Jays got a runner on in each of the first three innings but were unable to get a run across as Cole went onto retire JHU in order in innings 4-7.
• Ross was just as stellar on the mound for Hopkins throwing two perfect innings while surrendering just one baserunner in innings two, three and four.
• The Diplomats finally broke through in the sixth as Danny Blugis led off the inning with a double and scored on a Kyle Ebert single. F&M added two more runs in the inning on a two-RBI double from Kelsey Launi to make the score 3-0.

Dillon Bowman led off the eighth with a double and advanced to third on a
Zach Jaffe groundout.
Colby Wilson followed with a single to right to score Bowman and make the score 3-1. The Blue Jays got runners on first and second with one out, but Cole got the final two outs and the score remained 3-1 Dips.
• The Blue Jays got back-to-back two-out singles from
Austin Sacks and
Mike Smith in the ninth but they would stay stranded as Cole got the final out for the 3-1 win.

• Ross pitched his third complete game this season as the senior lefty fell to 2-4 on the season. He allowed just the three runs on five hits. He walked one and struck out five. He had pitched 26.2 innings of scoreless ball in conference play before surrendering the run with one out in the sixth. Ross leads the conference with 63 strikeouts this season and is second with a 2.06 ERA.
• Smith led JHU with two hits in the game as Hopkins outhit F&M 7-5. This is just the second loss this season by the Blue Jays when they have outhit their opponent.
• This is the fourth time this season Hopkins has scored just one run and the Blue Jays are 2-2 in those games.
• Cole went the full nine for the Diplomats allowing just the one run on seven hits. He walked none and struck out four.
