• Location: Westminster, MD (Warfield Tennis Courts) / Baltimore, MD (JHU Tennis Courts) • The Short Story: The Johns Hopkins men's tennis team split a pair of matches on Thursday, earning a 9-0 win over host McDaniel and dropping a 6-3 decision to visiting NC Wesleyan.

How it Happened • McDaniel
• Hopkins lost just five games total in doubles as the Blue Jays jumped out to a 3-0 lead over McDaniel. Sophomores Aaron Carey and Vik Vasan earned an 8-5 win at first over Will Giles and Luke Shuck at first.
• Junior Colin Muraika and freshman Robby Simon needed just eight games to defeat Quinn Burker and Jimmy Wawrzynski at second. Freshmen Jack Hogan and Bryan Chu turned the same trick at third in their win over Tate Myers and Justin Arter.
• In singles, the Blue Jays swept all six matches to complete the shutout. Simon needed to a breaker to win his first set, 7-6 (1), but cruised to a second-set 6-2 win to beat Giles at first. Hogan did not drop a game as he beat Myers at fifth. Muraika matched the feat in his win over Arter at sixth.
• With the match decided, the final three matches were played in eight-game pro sets. Carey and Vasan were each 8-0 winners at third and fourth, respectively. Freshman Matt Lurie closed out the match with an 8-5 win over Shuck at second.

• The final score was no indication of how closely contested this match was â€" two of three doubles matches decided in breakers, one three-set match, three singles sets decided in breakers.
• The Battling Bishops grabbed a 2-1 lead in the match with wins at first and third doubles. David Chang and Sebastian Sikh took the first point with an 8-5 win over freshman Vishnu Joshi and senior Justin Kang at third.
• Sophomores Joe Cartledge and Austin Gu then tied the match as they rallied from 5-0 down to beat Aditya Iyer and J.D. Telles, 9-8 (4) at second. Ioannis Brokakis and Roberto Puig gave NC Wesleyan back the lead when they beat senior David Perez and junior Scott Thygesen, 9-8 (5), at first.
• Brokakis pushed the Bishops' lead to 3-1 with a 6-3, 6-1 win over freshman Eric Yoo at second singles. Kang responded with an easy 6-0, 6-1 win over Chang at sixth to pull the Blue Jays back within one.
• Sikh followed with a 6-4, 6-3 defeat of Joshi at first to put the visitors up 4-2. Iyer then clinched the win with a close 6-4, 7-6 (5) win over Gu at fifth.
• Thygesen answered with a three-set win over Telles 6-2, 6-7 (5), 1-0 (6) at third to make it 5-3. Puig capped the win for NC Wesleyan with a tight 6-4, 7-6 (13) win at fourth over sophomore Cody Kim.

What it Means
• Hopkins improves to 65-11 all-time against McDaniel and has now won 21 straight in the series. The Blue Jays have shutout the Green Terror in each of the last 11 meetings.
• The Blue Jays are now 170-30 in Centennial Conference regular season matches. Hopkins has won 19 straight conference matches.
• JHU slips to 5-4 all-time against NC Wesleyan as the Bishops earn their first win in the series since April 25, 2015.
