• The Short Story: The 17th-ranked Johns Hopkins men's tennis team picked up a pair of wins on Saturday to move to 9-3 on the season. Hopkins grabbed an 8-1 win over Muhlenberg and then beat 37th-ranked Christopher Newport by the same score.
How it Happened • Muhlenberg
• Hopkins jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the match with a doubles sweep. Freshmen Bryan Chu and Jack Hogan did not lose a game en route to their win over Andrew Natko and Noah Dunn at second.
• Freshman Alex Matisse and sophomore Vik Vasan then beat Mickey Schindler and Noah Sellinger, 8-3, at first singles. Adam Kronick and Eli Taylor-Kerman grabbed what turned out to be the lone point for the Mules with a close 9-7 win at third over freshmen Matt Lurie and Robby Simon.
• Simon then picked up a straight sets win, without dropping a game, over Schindler at first singles. Chu followed with a 6-4, 6-3 win at fourth singles to clinch the win over the Mules. Sophomore Charlie Humes also won in straight sets, beating Natko 6-3, 6-0 at sixth.
• The final three matches were played in eight-game pro sets as the match was already decided. Lurie was an 8-3 winner at second over Sellinger. Matisse beat Alex Dagilis, 8-5, at third. Hogan grabbed an 8-2 win at fifth over Taylor-Kerman.

• Hopkins grabbed a 2-1 lead after doubles with wins at second and third. Sophomores Joe Cartledge and Austin Gu picked up an 8-4 win at second over Andy Mason and William Trang.
• Freshmen Vishnu Joshi and Eric Yoo won by the same score at third over Dominic Lacombe Nicholas Ruzicka. Justin Cerny and David Reed, ranked fifth in the region, earned a point for the Captains with an 8-5 win at first over senior David Perez and junior Scott Thygesen.
• The Blue Jays swept the six singles matches to grab the 8-1 win. Joshi beat Reed 6-3, 6-3 at first. Yoo was a 6-2, 7-6 winner over Cerny at second.
• Gu clinched the win for Hopkins with a 6-1, 6-4 win at fourth over Ruzicka. Sophomore Cody Kim beat Mason 6-4, 6-0 at third.
• Senior Justin Kang defeated Lacombe 6-3, 6-1 at fifth and Perez won by the same score at sixth over Dillon Sykes.
