The Short Story: The Johns Hopkins men's tennis team sent 10 players to the 10
th annual Saint Joseph's Invitational this weekend. Leading the way for the Blue Jays were juniors

Matt Lurie, who all advanced to the semifinals of the fourth singles flight. The final day of the invitational was not played on Sunday due to the weather. Â

How it Happened
• Carey opened the weekend by not losing a game in his win over Andrija Bozovic (LaSalle). He then defeated Eshan Kanetkar (Saint Joseph's) 6-2, 6-2. In the quarterfinals, Carey beat Danny Nomura (Villanova) 6-3, 6-7 (4), 1-0 (7) to set up a semifinals meeting with Lurie.
• Lurie began the weekend with a first-round bye, followed by a 6-3, 6-3 win over Andrew Nakhjavan (Lehigh). He then beat Priyan DeSilva (Mary Washington) 6-3, 6-4 to advance to the semifinals.
• Vasan began with a 6-1, 6-1 win over Sam Bencheghib (Lehigh), followed by a 6-1, 6-3 defeat of Alexander Schneider (Saint Joseph's). Vasan then won 6-2, 6-7 (7), 1-0 (9) over Derek Hagino (Mary Washington) to move into the semifinals.
• Sophomore
Robby Simon also competed in the fourth singles flight and dropped his first match to Luis Marcano (Delaware) 7-6 (9), 6-2.
• In the first flight, sophomore
Vishnu Joshi lost to Thomas Norwood (Harford CC) 3-6, 6-3, 1-0 (5). Senior
Scott Thygesen also lost his first match, falling 6-3, 6-4 to Alan Braschinsky (Lewis).
• In the second flight, junior
Cody Kim lost his first match 4-6, 6-2, 1-0 (5) to Nathan Benyowitz (Delaware). Junior
Austin Gu fell 6-1, 6-3 to Juan Manuel Sanchez (Drexel) in the first round.
• Freshman
Naevin Anukornchaikul lost his first match 2-6, 6-3, 1-0 (8) to Chris Auteri in the third singles flight. Junior
Joe Cartledge dropped his first match 6-4, 7-5 to Colin Lucius (LaSalle).
• In the first doubles flight, Joshi and Thygesen had a first-round bye but then lost to George Cooper and Harry Wang (Lehigh), 9-7. On the bottom half of the draw, Cartledge and Gu also had a bye and then beat Andre Fick and Johnnie Massart (Saint Joseph's) 8-5. Their run ended in the quarterfinals with an 8-3 loss to Sanchez and Sanil Jagtiani (Drexel).
• In the top half of the second doubles flight, Anukornchaikul and Lurie dropped their first match, 8-3, to Chris Auteri and Bryant Born (Lehigh). Kim and Vasan had a first-round bye but then lost to Mike Fleming and Joseph Brown (Mary Washington), 8-6. In the other half of the draw, Carey and Simon lost their first match, 8-2, to Oskar Lusti and Chandler Stimpert (Lewis).
