The Short Story: The Johns Hopkins men's tennis team has three singles players and a pair of doubles teams in the round of 16 at the ITA Southeast Championship. Â

How it Happened • Championship Singles
• Junior
Vishnu Joshi, seeded third in the championship draw, opened with a 6-1, 6-3 win over Keegan Morris (Stevens). He then beat Justin Pace (Franklin & Marshall) without losing a game to advance to the round of 16.
• Senior
Austin Gu, the ninth seed in the draw, beat Patrick MacLean (Salisbury) 6-2, 6-0 in the opening round. He followed with a 7-5, 6-1 win over Noah Tapp (Washington & Lee) to move on to the round of 16.
• Junior
Matt Lurie picked up a 6-4, 6-1 win over Adith Chandavarkar (Franklin & Marshall) in round one. He was up 4-1 in the second round, when his opponent, Priyan Desilva (Mary Washington), retired due to injury.
• Senior
Joe Cartledge beat Raahil Doshi (Carnegie Mellon) 6-3, 7-6 (1) in the first round and then lost to fifth-seeded Harry Shepherd (Washington & Lee) in three sets 4-6, 6-4, 7-6 (4).
• Freshman
Andrew Tran lost his first-round match to Nicolas Alvarado (Randolph) 6-2, 6-4. Senior
Aaron Carey won his first match (6-4, 4-6, 7-5) over Juan Borga (Lynchburg). He then lost to fourth-seeded Revanth Boppana (Carnegie Mellon) 6-1, 6-2.

How it Happened • Championship Doubles
• Cartledge and Gu are the top seed in the draw and a had first-round bye. They then beat Sam Gibson and Jonathan Nottingham (Carnegie Mellon) 8-7 to advance to the round of 16.
• Joshi and senior
Vik Vasan, seeded ninth, also had a first-round bye. The pair beat Doshi and Joshua Pinckney 8-3 in their second-round match.
• Carey and Tran opened with an 8-4 win over Tapp and Evan Brady in the first round. The duo then lost in the second round to fifth-seeded Marcos Dias and Paul Monson (Southern Virginia) 8-6.

• Gu moved into a tie for 16
th in school history with 43 career singles wins, a tie for 21
st with 44 career doubles wins and 17
th with 87 total wins.
