Joshi and Vasan Fall in ITA Southeast Doubles Final

The Basics
• Location: Fredericksburg, VA • Battleground Athletic Complex
• The Short Story: Junior Vishnu Joshi and senior Vik Vasan fell in the finals of the ITA Southeast Doubles Championship Sunday afternoon. Joshi also lost in the finals of the singles championship.
 
How it Happened
• Joshi opened the day with a 6-1, 6-4 win over ninth-seeded Marc Gomez in the semifinals. He then lost to second-seeded Alexander Angradi (Salisbury) 3-6, 6-3, 6-4 in the championship match.
• In the doubles draw, senior Joe Cartledge and Austin Gu lost in the semifinals to Angradi and Ian Siew, 8-6. The pair from Salisbury then beat Joshi and Vasan 6-2, 6-4 in the finals.  
 
What it Means
• Joshi is the first Blue Jay to advance to the finals of the singles championship since Mike Buxbaum did so in 2015. Joshi and Vasan are also the first Blue Jay doubles team to make it to the finals since Buxbaum and Emerson Walsh in 2016.
