2019 Penn Monto/NFHCA Preseason Poll

GILBERT, AZ – The Johns Hopkins field hockey team is ranked fifth in the preseason edition of the Penn Monto/NFHCA Division III National Coaches Poll. It is the Blue Jays' highest ever preseason ranking and it is the first time they are ranked in the preseason since 2010.
 
Hopkins, which went 19-3 and advanced to the NCAA Semifinals a year ago, earned 610 points in the preseason poll. This is just the third time the Blue Jays are ranked in the top-five and first since September 30, 2008. Hopkins returns 10 starters, including senior All-American midfielder Katie McErlean, from last year's Centennial Conference Championship squad. In addition, the Blue Jays return 87.5 percent of their offense, including the top six goal scorers.    
 
Five of the Blue Jays' 2019 opponents are ranked in the NFHCA Preseason Poll, including a trio in the top-10 (Messiah, Salisbury, Franklin & Marshall). JHU opens the season on Friday, August 30 at Washington & Lee with game time set for 6:00 pm.
