• The Short Story: Senior Austin Gu and junior Vishnu Joshi went undefeated in singles and doubles at the 2019 Joe Hunt Invitational over the weekend at the United States Naval Academy.
 
How it Happened
• On Friday, Gu and Joshi won their doubles match by walkover versus Vasco Belunade and Joseph Blakeley. Joshi won both of his singles matches in straight sets, defeating Lukas Linden Malmberg (6-2, 6-0) and Rithik Sardana (6-2, 6-2). Gu closed out the day with a pair of straight set wins over Ryan Macy (6-2, 6-1) and Andris Gudins (6-4, 6-3).
• Saturday saw the Blue Jay pair beat Erik Gran and Conners O'Brien 7-6 (2) and then Maciej Autuch and Moric Budinsky by walkover. Joshi picked up a three-set win over Ethan Jacobs 6-1, 4-6, 6-3 in his only singles match of the day. Gu came from behind to beat Mark Militzer (4-6, 6-2, 6-3) in his first match and then ended the day with a straight sets win over Pieter Wernink (6-2, 6-1).
• On Sunday, Gu and Joshi bested Romesh Kahatapitiya and Sam Vagner 7-5 in doubles. Joshi closed out the weekend with a 6-4, 6-4 win over Eric Biscoveanu.
 
What it Means
• Gu now has 41 career singles wins, moving him 17^th place in school history. He is also now tied for 23^rd in school history with 43 career doubles wins and 17^th with 84 total wins.
