How it Happened
• Hopkins opened the day with against eighth-ranked Penn, with the Quakers winning all three weapons. Senior
Erin Chen won two of her bouts to lead the Sabre squad in a tough 5-4 loss. The Epee and Foil squads lost 6-3 each, with junior
Shaina Morris and freshman
Alexandra McDonald winning two bouts each.
• JHU then faced off against St. John's with the Sabre squad grabbing a 6-3 win. Junior
Rebecca Zhou won all three of her bouts, while Chen won two.
• The Blue Jays lost to the host and fifth-ranked Temple Owls, with the Sabre squad earning another win (5-4). Chen and senior
Alicja Tomaszewski each won two bouts. The Foil squad lost a close match, 5-4, with freshman
Delphine Tan winning two of her three bouts.
• Hopkins then lost a close decision to top-ranked Princeton, with the Epee squad grabbing a 6-3 win. Morris and freshman
Alexandra Szewc won two each for the Epee squad. In the Sabre, the Blue Jays lost a tight 5-4 decision, led by Chen and her two wins.
• The Blue Jays ended the day with another close loss, 14-13 to sixth-ranked Penn State. The Epee (5-4) and Foil (5-4) squads each earned close wins. Morris and Szewc won two bouts each in the Epee, while McDonald and Tan did the same in the Foil.
