Hopkins Falls to W&L, Muhlenberg in Final Two Duals of the Season

Blue Jays Head to Centennial Championships Next Week

WESTMINSTER, MD – The Johns Hopkins wrestling dropped its final two regular season dual meets of the season as the Blue Jays fell to Washington & Lee (35-10) and Muhlenberg (34-15) in matches that took place at McDaniel College on Saturday afternoon.  The Blue Jays end the regular season at 5-11 overall and 1-5 in the Centennial Conference.
 
Against the Generals
Johns Hopkins opened with a 4-1 win by freshman Brent Lorin over Riley Parker at 125, but the Generals won the next four bouts, including two by forfeit, one by decision and one by technical fall, to jump out to a 20-3 lead.
 
Junior Dominick Reyes, who is ranked 10th by the NWCA and eighth by d3wrestle.com, then edged Shane Conners, 5-2, at 165 and Joe Paul followed with a 12-4 major decision of Alec Horne at 174, but the Generals grabbed a win by decision at 184 and two more forfeits to close out the victory.
 
Against the Mules
Six forfeits (four by the Blue Jays and two by the Mules) meant that only four bouts were wrestled in this one.  After trailing 16-5, the Blue Jays got a 7-1 win from sophomore Bradlee Lamontagne at 157 and a forfeit win from Reyes at 165 to pull within 16-15, but the Mules answered with wins by decision at 174 and 184 and two more forfeits to grab the victory.
 
Notes of Interest
With his two wins today, Lorin improved to 20-11 overall and he is 13-1 in his last 14 matches • Reyes picked up the 80th win of his career with his two victories today and is now 80-24 • Paul picked up his 25th win of the season with his victory against Washington & Lee and is 25-13 on the year.
 
What's Next
Johns Hopkins will return to action on Saturday, February 15 when the Blue Jays travel to Muhlenberg for the 2020 Centennial Conference Championships.
