GILBERT, AZ – The Johns Hopkins field hockey garnered numerous academic honors from the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) it was announced recently. The Blue Jays placed a national-best 28 student-athletes on the 2020 NFHCA Division III National Academic Squad, boasted six Scholars of Distinction and posted the fourth-best team GPA.
 
The Division III National Academic Squad program honors student-athletes who have achieved a cumulative grade-point average of 3.3 or higher through the first semester of the 2020-2021 academic year. The Blue Jays 28 selections this season are a school record and 92 student-athletes have earned the honor under fourth-year head coach Jane Wells.
 
The Scholars of Distinction program recognizes student-athletes who have achieved a cumulative grade-point average of 3.9 or higher through the first semester of the 2020-21 academic year. Hopkins six selections are also a program-best.
 
The NFHCA National Academic Team Award recognizes programs that earned a team grade-point average of 3.0 or higher during the fall semester of the 2020-2021 school year. Hopkins had an impressive 3.84 team GPA in the fall of 2020, the fourth best GPA in Division III.
