BALTIMORE, MD – The Johns Hopkins men's tennis team will travel to North Carolina Wesleyan for the 2021 NCAA Regional this weekend it was announced today by the NCAA.  The Blue Jays, who are making their 15
th straight NCAA Tournament appearance, earned a first-round bye and will play Farmingdale St. in the second round on Saturday, May 15 at a time to be announced.

The NC Wesleyan Regional
Johns Hopkins (8-0) nd Farmingdale (6-1) are two of the five teams that will compete in the North Carolina Wesleyan Regional. The host Battling Bishops, like Johns Hopkins and Farmingdale, also received a first-round bye and will take on the winner of the opening round match between Drew and Lancaster Bible in the second round (May 15). The winners of the two second-round matches will meet in the Sweet 16 on Sunday, May 16.

JHU's NCAA Tournament History
The Blue Jays have qualified for the NCAAs every year since 2006 and have compiled an all-time record of 18-14 in the tournament. Johns Hopkins has won its opening match in the tournament every year since 2009 (either first round or second round if a bye was earned) and the Blue Jays are 11-2 all-time in the second round.

Series History
Johns Hopkins and Farmingdale will be playing for the first time and the teams shared no common opponents in 2021. The Blue Jays have played Drew (10-0) and North Carolina Wesleyan (20-2) once each in the NCAAs with both of those matches coming in 2013. Johns Hopkins defeated Drew, 5-0, in the second round of the tournament before falling to the 'Bishops, 5-3, in the Sweet 16. Overall, JHU is 8-5 all-time against Drew and 6-5 against North Carolina Wesleyan; the Blue Jays have never played Lancaster Bible (11-1).

What's Next
The winner of the NC Wesleyan Regional will take on the winner of the regional featuring Williams, Washington & Lee, Rose-Hulman and Mount Aloysius in the NCAA Quarterfinals on Monday, May 24. The NCAA Quarterfinals, Semifinals and Championship will take place at the Champions Tennis Club in Chattanooga, TN. Johns Hopkins has advanced to the NCAA Quarterfinals four times (2012, 2014, 2015, 2016).
