Joshi Named Centennial Player of the Year; Yu Named Rookie of the Year

Ten Blue Jays Earn All-Conference Honors

LANCASTER, PA – The Johns Hopkins men's tennis team produced a pair of major award winners as well as 13 all-conference selections with the announcement of the 2021 All-Centennial Conference Team. Senior Vishnu Joshi was named the Player of the Year and freshman Thomas Yu was honored as the Rookie of the Year.
 
Joshi is the seventh Blue Jay to earn Centennial Conference Player of the Year honors. Yu is just the second to earn Centennial Conference Rookie of the Year honors and the first since 2014. Hopkins has now produced 62 All-Centennial Conference Singles selections and 60 doubles selections. The Blue Jays' 13 All-Centennial Conference selections as well as the five freshmen that earned all-conference honors are both program records.
 
Joshi also earned First Team All-Centennial honors in singles and second team honors in doubles. He is 7-0 in singles and 8-0 in doubles this season, including 4-0 with freshman Daniel Ardila. Joshi is the Blue Jays active leader with 39 career singles wins and 39 career doubles wins. He ranks 20th in school history in singles wins, 24th in doubles wins and 21st in total wins (78).
 
In addition to earning Rookie of the Year honors, Yu was named First Team All-Centennial in singles and doubles. He is just the second freshman in program history to earn first team all-conference honors in both. Yu is 5-0 in singles and 5-1 in doubles this season.
 
Freshman James Yu earned First Team All-Centennial Conference honors in doubles and second team honors for singles. He is 3-1 in singles and 5-1 in doubles with twin brother, Thomas. Sophomore Andrew Tran earned Second Team All-Centennial honors in singles with a 5-0 record. In addition, he was named to the Centennial Conference All-Sportsmanship Team.
 
Senior Eric Yoo was named to Second Team All-Centennial for singles with a 5-0 record. Junior Brian Wang was named to the all-conference second team for singles. He is 5-1 in singles this season and this is his second all-conference honor for singles. Senior Robby Simon earns all-conference honors for singles for the second time in his career. He earned honorable mention accolades with a 5-0 record this season. 
 
Ardila along with classmates Rohan Reddy and Arjun Asokumar all earned Second Team All-Centennial Conference honors for doubles. Ardila is 4-0 in doubles this season, while Reddy and Asokumar are each 5-0.
