LANCASTER, PA – The Johns Hopkins field hockey team placed five players on the 2022 All-Centennial Conference (CC) teams it was announced today. Graduate student
Abby Birk and senior
Anna Scott were named to the first team, while senior
Siena Urbanski and junior
Mikayla Schoff were named to the second team. In addition, senior
Olivia Fox was named honorable mention.
Hopkins has now produced 23 All-CC selections under fifth-year head coach
Jane Wells. Overall, JHU has produced 108 All-CC selections, including a conference-record 49 first team honorees. This season, the Blue Jays went undefeated in the Centennial Conference and won their fourth consecutive tournament title.
Birk earns All-Centennial Conference honors for the fourth time in her career and grabs her third first team selection. She is just the sixth player in program history to earn All-CC honors four times and is only the second to earn first team honors three times. Birk leads the Blue Jays in point (35) and assists (9) and is tied for first in goals (13). She ranks third in the conference in points, is tied for second in assists and tied for third in goals.
Scott repeats as a First Team All-Centennial Conference selection. She anchored a Blue Jay defense that set school and conference records for fewest goals allowed in conference play (0) and consecutive shutouts (11). Hopkins also tied the conference record with 13 shutouts overall. A three-time Centennial Conference Defensive Player of the Week, Scott leads the conference with five defensive saves and also added three assists.
Urbanski, Schoff and Fox all earn All-CC honors for the first time in their careers. After missing most of the last year, Urbanski turned in the best season of her career. She is tied for the team lead with 13 goals and ranks second in assists (5) and points (31). Urbanski is tied for third in the Centennial in goals, fifth in points and ninth in assists.
Schoff and Fox join Scott on the stout Blue Jay defense that ranks third in the nation, among all divisions, in shutouts per game (0.68). Hopkins also ranks fifth nationally, among all divisions, in goals against average (0.57). JHU also allows just 5.8 shots per game, including just 2.63 shots on goal, and only 4.5 penalty corners per game. Schoff has also handed out two assists, while Fox has scored a goal and added an assist.
In addition, senior
Riley Mitchell was named to the Centennial Conference Sportsmanship Team. She has played in 13 games this season and started one.
