How it Happened • Team Championship
Johns Hopkins dropped just four total bouts in its first three matches, with a pair of 27-0 wins over Hunter and CCNY. Hopkins then beat host and seventh-ranked Vassar, 18-9, with the Sabre squad turning in its fourth straight 9-0 performance.
The Blue Jays followed with a 24-3 win over the Denison Big Red , sweeping all three weapons. Hopkins turned the same trick in a 26-1 win over Yeshiva. Hopkins took on its second ranked opponent of the afternoon, defeating Wellesley, 16-11, with wins by the Foil (7-2) and Epee (5-4) squads.
Hopkins then defeated Drew, 19-8, and was again fueled by the Foil (8-1) and Epee (7-2) squads. As it so often has, the championship came down to the Hopkins-Stevens match. The Blue Jays prevailed in a close 15-12 decision over the fifth-ranked Ducks. Again, it was the Foil (6-3) and Epee (7-2) squads leading the way.
The Foil squad went 9-0 on the day, going a combined 69-12, to win its fourth straight and eighth overall championship. The Epee squad finished with an 8-1 record (65-16) to claim its second consecutive and fourth overall title. The Sabre squad finished with a 6-3 record (61-20) to finish in third place.

How it Happened • Individual Championship
Sophomore Jenny Song won the Sabre individual championship, while junior Delphine Tan finished in 16th place. Song is the second straight Blue Jay to win the Sabre title and seventh since 2012.
Senior Miya Herman was the runner-up in the Foil and sophomore Christine Wang placed eighth.
Junior Alex Szewc was the Epee runner-up and sophomore Maya Zhang finished in a tie for third.

What it Means
• Hopkins has won nine of the last 12 championships (championship was canceled in 2021). The Blue Jays finished as the runner-up three times in the last 12 seasons.
• The Blue Jays now boast a 26-11 record – breaking the school record for wins in a season. The previous mark of 23 was set in 2016-17. This is Hopkins' third 20-win season in the last five (full) seasons (the Blue Jays had an abbreviated season in 2020-21).
• Song was named the 2022 EWFC Sabre Fencer of the Year and also earned First Team All-EWFC honors. Herman, Szewc and Zhang also earned First Team All-EWFC while Wang was  named second team.
• Szewc earned her 100th Epee win and is now tied for 13th in school history with 101 career Epee wins.
• Senior Cherlin Zhu moved into 11th in JHU history with 129 career Sabre wins and Song is now 14th with 90 career wins.
