The Short Story: The sixth-ranked Johns Hopkins men's tennis team kicked off its California trip with a 6-3 win at Chapman Sunday afternoon.

• Hopkins took a 2-1 lead after doubles and then won four of six singles matches to take the win.

Rohan Reddy lost just one game as they beat Andy Hess and Julien Sanseverino at third doubles. Graduate student
Vishnu Joshi and junior
Alexander Kernagis then beat Josh Blinder and Kameron DeHart, 8-4, at second. The Panthers cut the Blue Jays' lead in half when Caleb Wilkins and Mac Caldwell edged sophomores
James and
Thomas Yu, 8-7 (4) at first.
• Joshi didn't lose a game in his win at second singles over Blinder to put JHU up 3-1. Junior
Andrew Tran dropped just two games as he beat Mason Marks 6-2, 6-0 at sixth. Reddy earned a 6-1, 6-2 win over DeHart at third singles.
• Hess grabbed a point for Chapman with a 6-4, 6-3 win over senior
Brian Wang at fifth.
James Yu rallied for a win at fourth over Danny Marsh. He dropped the first set, 6-4, but won the second 6-4 and then took a third-set tiebreaker 1-0 (4). Wilkins picked up another point for the Panthers with a 6-2, 3-6, 6-4 win at first over
Thomas Yu.

What it Means
• Sunday's match was the first-ever meeting between Hopkins and Chapman.
• Joshi moved into a tie for 13
th in school history with 47 career singles wins and is now tied for 22
nd with 44 career doubles wins. He now needs just nine wins to become the 15
th player in program history with 100 combined wins.
