Annie Gutierrez were named Centennial Conference Track & Field Athletes of the Week for their efforts this weekend.
Competing in the Raleigh Relays on Friday night, Baran continued her assault on the record books, breaking the school and conference record in the 1,500. Baran crossed the finish line in 4:19.97, placing her 16th in a field of nearly 200. Baran breaks Annie Monagle's school record by nearly three seconds while breaking the Centennial Conference record by roughly two seconds.
On Saturday, Gutierrez competed at the Hurricane Collegiate Invitational, participating in the long jump, pole vault and 100-meter hurdles. Gutierrez had a stellar beginning to the outdoor season, posting three marks that place her in the top-12 nationally early on this season. Gutierrez hit a 5.52m long jump to sit in eighth nationally, broke her own school record in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 14.59 to place eighth nationally, and then hit a 3.60m pole vault to sit in a tie for 12th.
The Blue Jays will compete in full this weekend at the Towson Invitational.
