The Short Story: The Johns Hopkins women's tennis team stepped out of conference play on Sunday and dropped a 5-2 decision at Morgan State.

How it Happened
• Hopkins jumped out to a 2-0 lead before Morgan State rallied with five singles wins to take the match. Sophomore

Emily Javedan beat Anabel Aran and Hannah Smith, 6-4, at second doubles. Junior
Anjali Devireddy and freshman
Aya Igaki-Meader then beat Nolwenn Cardoso and Averiana Mitchell by the same score at first. The Bears defaulted at third doubles.
• Four of the five singles matches that were contested, were decided in three sets. Morgan State defaulted at sixth singles due to a lack of players.
• Smith edged Devireddy 6-4, 4-6, 6-0 at first singles to get the Bears on the board. Mithcell then defeated Igaki-Meader 6-2, 4-6, 6-3 at second. Cardoso won 6-2, 2-6, 7-5 over junior
Christina Huynh at third.
• Aran followed with a 6-2, 4-6, 7-6 (2) win over Bader at fourth. Stefania Moysiadi closed out the match with a 6-2, 6-3 win over senior
Jessica Liang at fifth.

What it Means
• Sunday's match was the first-ever meeting between Johns Hopkins and Morgan State.
