Lancaster, PA - JHU women's track and field athletes Lina Spjut and
Victoria Kadiri were honored by the Centennial Conference for their efforts this past weekend. Spjut, a distance runner for the Jays was named Centennial Track Athlete of the Week while Kadiri, a multis athlete, was named Centennial Field Athlete of the Week.
This is Spjut's first Centennial Track Athlete of the Week recognition as she competed in the 1,500 at the Bison Outdoor Classic on Friday. Spjut posted the 19th-fastest time in Division III so far this year, finishing the race in 4:36.91. Teammate
Ella Baran is the only runner in the conference with a faster time in 2022.Â
On the field side, the NCAA indoor long jump champion, Kadiri, jumped her way into another Field Athlete of the Week nomination. Competing on Wednesday and Thursday at the Mondschein Multis at Kutztown, Kadiri posted a top-10 heptathlon score while briefly taking the top spot nationally in the long jump. Kadiri's school-record long jump of 5.94m took over first place in DIIIÂ before being bested three days later. Kadiri's heptathlon score of 4,250 is currently seventh in the country.Â
Johns Hopkins will host its home outdoor meet on Saturday, the Hopkins/Loyola Invitational.Â
