Kieren Collins was named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District II Baseball Team for the second consecutive season. Collins' name will now go on the ballot for Academic All-America honors.
2022 marks the seventh consecutive season and the 28
th time in 33 years that JHU has placed a player on the Academic All-District Baseball Team. Collins is the 10
th Blue Jay overall and first since Tyler Goldstein in 2014 to earn back-to-back CoSIDA honors.
A junior starting pitcher from Palmetto, FL, Collins holds a 3.66 GPA as a Chemical & Biomolecular Engineering major. Before suffering an injury, Collins was off to a fantastic start in 2022, recording a win-loss record of 4-1 with a 3.34 ERA. Collins allowed 17 runs in 35 innings while striking out 34 and walking just two batters. On March 17 vs. Ramapo, Collins threw the eighth no-hitter in JHU program history and first since 2010 in a 10-0 victory.
An ABCA/Rawlings Third Team All-Region selection in 2021, Collins sports a career record of 10-3 with a 3.03 ERA and 91 strikeouts to just 11 walks in 98 innings pitched. The Class of 2019 IMG Academy Valedictorian earned first team All-Centennial honors in 2021 as well. Collins works as a Johns Hopkins Intramural Manager and in the Athletic Center Equipment Room. He was the recipient of the 2020-21 James F. Pitts Scholarship for Academic Excellence. The Floridian has volunteered his time at Nate's Honor Animal Rescue, spending time walking dogs at the largest no-kill animal shelter in the Bradenton Area.
