Vitek Repeats as First Team CoSIDA Academic All-America Honors

BALTIMORE, MD – Johns Hopkins men's swimmer Jeff Vitek has been named a First Team CoSIDA Academic All-American for the second straight year it was announced today.
 
Hopkins has now produced 18 CoSIDA Academic All-Americans with nine of those selections coming in the last nine years. Vitek is the fifth swimmer in program history to earn First Team Academic All-America honors twice. He graduated last a degree in a chemical and biomolecular engineering. He is now working as an Investment Analyst at DC Energy in Washington, DC.
 
A 16-time All-American, Vitek holds Johns Hopkins records in the 100 and 200 Fly as well as the 200 and 400 Free Relays and the 200 and 400 Medley Relays. He also boasts the five fastest times in school history in the 100 Fly and the six fastest times in the 200 Fly.
 
Vitek led Hopkins to a runner-up finish at the 2022 NCAA Championships and a fourth-place finish at the 2019 NCAA Championships (the 2020 and 2021 championships were cancelled).  The second-place finish is the eighth in Blue Jay men's swimming history.
 
Vitek was an R&C Engineer Intern for W.R. Grace and Company last year, working with the Pharma team on product development and continuous improvement processes. He worked as undergraduate researcher in the Nano Energy Laboratory at Johns Hopkins since the fall of 2019. He has also interned Curative, Inc and Prinova Group, LLC.
 
Vitek served as the President and Head Engineer for Projects in the Design of a Chemical Car. He led a team of 20 students designing and building a chemically controlled car. He was a volunteer math tutor with Starts with Soap, an educational non-profit, and is a member of Blue Jays LEAD.
