LANCASTER, PA – After a stellar opening weekend at the TCNJ Open, Johns Hopkins women's track and field's
Lauren Phillips and
Victoria Kadiri have been named the Centennial Conference Athletes of the Week, as released this morning.
Phillips was named the Centennial Conference Track Athlete of the Week after winning three events at Saturday's TCNJ Open. The junior earned the first win of the day for Hopkins in the 60-meter dash, crossing the line in front with a time of 7.75 seconds, following that up with her second win in the 300-meter sprint, finishing in first in a new program-best 41.15 seconds. Phillips ended her evening as a member of the 4x400 team, which topped the field with a time of 3:57.71 to secure the Mount Laurel, NJ native her third first-place finish on the day.
Kadiri found similar success in her season-opening performance, winning two events at The Armory. The senior opened her day with a dominant showing in the long jump, clearing 5.90 meters — just .03 meters off her mark that won her the National Championship a season ago — to take home first. Kadiri completed the sweep in Saturday's jump events, winning the triple jump with a leap of 12.11 meters to best the field by nearly one meter.
The track and field program is off for the holidays and will return Friday, Jan. 12 to compete at the TCNJ Invitational.
