James Yu has been named the Centennial Conference Player of the Week it was announced today. This is the first weekly conference honor of his career.
Yu went 2-0 in doubles and 2-0 in singles to help Hopkins to Centennial wins over Washington College and Haverford. He and brother Thomas lost just one game in their two wins at first doubles, defeating Washington 8-0 and Haverford 8-1. James then did not lose a set in either of his singles wins at the number three spot, securing a 6-2, 6-3 win versus Washington and a 7-5, 6-0 triumph versus Haverford. He clinched Hopkins' win over Haverford with his singles win.
James Yu is 12-6 in singles and 20-4 in doubles this season. Hopkins (12-3, 4-1 CC) returns to the court on Wednesday as the Blue Jays visit Morgan State and Dickinson.
