BALTIMORE, MD- The Johns Hopkins baseball team placed five athletes on the 2023 College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Team, it was announced this afternoon. Seniors
Sam Frank,
Matthew Cooper and
Kieren Collins and sophomores
Shawn Steuerer and
Matt Savedoff all earned the honor, and they will all be eligible to be selected for the CSC Academic All-America team in the upcoming weeks. To be nominated, a student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average and must have participated in at least 50 percent of team's games.

Collins is now a three-time Academic All-District selection, joining Rob Pietroforte and Karl Sineath as one of the three players in school history to be selected three times. Collins is earning his degree in Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering and has a 3.69 GPA. Collins has pitched to a 2.81 ERA this season, which is the second lowest among Blue Jays starters this year. During the conference schedule, Collins held opponents to just one earned run over 20 innings pitched with 14 strikeouts. Collins earned his second First Team All-Centennial honor a couple weeks ago.

Cooper is earning his degree in Economics and has accumulated a 3.54 GPA at Johns Hopkins. He has already been named the Centennial Conference Player of the Year and a First Team All-Centennial player. Cooper holds the triple crown in the Centennial with a .456 batting average, 21 home runs and 57 RBI's. He has already broken the single season home run record in school history which was 17. He plans to work as an investment banker analyst after graduation this spring.

Frank is majoring in Psychology and holds a 3.62 GPA currently. He was a First Team All-Centennial catcher for the Blue Jays after a stellar year behind the plate. Frank is fourth on the team in batting average and fourth in the conference in long balls with 10. Frank's 25 extra-base hits is also second on team and third in the conference. He tore the cover off the ball in conference games, hitting .446 with eight home runs and 21 RBI's.

Steuerer is also majoring in Economics and has a 3.63 GPA at Johns Hopkins. Steuerer was a First Team All-Centennial selection, the second time he's made an All-Centennial team. Steuerer has a .414 batting average, and he is second in the conference home runs (12) and RBI's this season (45). He is tied for the most multi-hit games on the team this season with 22 and he has the most three-hit games with nine.

Savedoff has been very effective on the mound for Johns Hopkins this season and has thrown the second most innings at 50.1. He boasts a 3.58 ERA and is the team leader in strikeouts with 57. He racked up a career-high eight punch outs on 4/11 against Swarthmore in a 18-6 win for the Blue Jays. Savedoff is earning his degree in Economics and has accumulated a 3.79 GPA.

Johns Hopkins will start its NCAA Tournament campaign at home in the regional against Penn State-Altoona at 11 am on Friday.
