The Johns Hopkins men's track team placed second at the Centennial Conference championships on Sunday as the Blue Jays narrowly missed out on the top spot to host Ursinus, 199-190. The nine-point margin of victory for the Bears is the third-closest in league history and this is the fourth time the title has been decided by less than 10 points.
Meet Highlights
• The Blue Jays grabbed 10 points in the 100-meter dash as senior Conrad Say placed first with a time of 10.89. He narrowly missed his personal best time of 10.82 and is Johns Hopkins' first-ever Centennial champion in the event. Say would add a fourth-place finish in the 200-meter dash with a career-best mark of 22.02.
• Hopkins would advance three into the finals of the 800-meter run with Arthur Beyer (3rd/1:54.40), Samson Dessalines (6th/1:55.51) and Fisayo Omonije (7th/1:56.19) all scored for the Jays. Beyer is Hopkins' eighth all-time Centennial Conference medalist in the event.
• A trio of Blue Jays would score in the 1,500 as well with Matthew Kleiman leading the way with a third-place showing (3:47.75). Daniel Chen (4th/3:51.13) and Beyer (6th/3:55.32) added scoring finishes as well; third is the third time Kleiman has medaled in the event at the Centennial Championships.
• The Blue Jays added 18 points to the cause in the 5K with the balk of the points coming from the trio of Gavin McElhennon (3rd/14:47.55), Emmanuel Leblond (4th/14:50.51) and Daniel Chen (5th/14:54.30). McElhennon earned a bronze medal which was his second of the weekend.Â
• The Blue Jays picked up another bronze medal in the 4x400 relay from Joshua Gregory, Zach Martin, Ahmed Elmogi and Fisayo Omonije who ran a 3:23.24 as a team to come in third place. It is the program's second ever brone medal in the 4x400.Â
