Box Score 1 FREDERICKSBURG, VA – The Johns Hopkins men's tennis team opened its fall schedule at the UMW Kickoff Saturday and Sunday. JHU faced off against players from host Mary Washington, George Mason and Longwood.
Freshman
Chakor Rajendra led the Blue Jays with a 3-1 record in singles. He opened with a close 7-6, 6-4 win to UMW's Trevor Rein. He then wrapped up the weekend with wins over Mary Washington's Brock Ladehoff (8-3) and Albert Vladimirskiy (8-2). Sophomore
Prem Dave went 2-2 on the weekend with wins over George Mason's Momin Khan (3-6, 7-6 retired) and Longwood's Lorenzo Meschini (8-1).
Sophomore
Allen Gong picked up a win over Hart, 7-6, 3-1 retired. Graduate student
George Jiang earned a win over Mary Washington's Jacob Pfab, 8-3. Junior
Gabriel Chavez defeated Mary Washington's Andrew Cooper 6-3, 6-2. Sophomore
Pranav Gadiraju opened the weekend with a 6-4, 4-6, 1-0 (3) win over GeorgeMason's Niza Simunyola.
In doubles action, seniors
Daniel Ardila and
Thomas Yu took an 8-4 win over Longwood's Peter Belosevic and Timeo Puech. Ardila and Gong also paired to beat Rein and Evan Fisher, 8-3. Gong paired with graduate student
Mason Liu to defeat Pfab and Jack Riordan, 8-5.
Liu and Jiang picked up an 8-4 win over Cooper and Hart. Dave and Rajendra paired to beat Vladimirskiy and Drew Campbell, 8-5. Rajendra also teamed with Chavez for an 8-6 win over Zavan Fahim and Herman Jentoft of George Mason.
Hopkins returns to action at the ITA Southeast Regional September 29 to October 1.
