Dylan Blenkiron earned All-America honors at the ITA Cup this weekend to highlight Johns Hopkins trip to the national championship event. The Blue Jay doubles' team went 2-1 while sophomore
Chakor Rajendra went 2-1 in the singles draw.
Gong and Blenkiron upset fourth-seeded Quinn Wicklund and Jordan Theron (Sewanee) 7-6 (2), 3-6, 1-0 (1) in the opening round. The pair then lost to Josh Christensen and Marco Siviero (GAC) 6-7 (4), 6-3, 1-0 (8) in the quarterfinals. In the consolation semifinals, Gong and Blenkiron beat Javier Gonzalez and Stavros Mastrogamvrakis (TU) 6-4, 6-2. With their first-round win, Gong and Blenkiron earned ITA All-America honors.
In the singles draw, Rajendra lost 6-1, 6-2 in the opening round to Kael Shah (DU). In the consolation draw, he led Connor Griff (HC) 6-2, 3-1 before his opponent retired. Rajendra then came from behind to beat Neel Epstein (MC) 3-6, 6-4, 6-4.
The ITA Cup wraps up the Fall portion of the Blue Jays schedule.
