Rabil Elected to National Lacrosse Hall of Fame

Former Blue Jay Midfielder is JHU's 74th Inductee

BALTIMORE, MD – Paul Rabil, who led the Johns Hopkins men's lacrosse team to a pair of national championships and went on to a highly-successful international and professional career, has been elected to the National Lacrosse Hall of Fame it was announced today.  Rabil becomes the 74th person inducted into the Hall of Fame with a tie to Johns Hopkins.
 
In addition to Rabil, the 2025 inductees include Carol Cantele, John Grant Jr., Kristen Kjellman Marshall, Brodie Merrill, Patti Klecha-Porter, Betsy Meng Ramsey, and Vincent LoBello (posthumous).
 
Rabil ranks as one of the most decorated players in Johns Hopkins history as he earned All-America honors four times, including first team honors as a sophomore, junior and senior, and third team as a freshman.  He is one of just 21 players in school history to earn First Team All-America three times and one of just 19 four-time All-Americans in program history.
 
The McLaughlin Award recipient as the nation's top midfielder in 2007, Rabil totaled 111 goals and 67 assists for 178 points in his career.  He graduated as JHU's career leader in goals and points by a midfielder and is the only midfielder in school history with more than 100 goals and 60 assists.
 
Rabil saved his best work for May as he rang up 28 goals and 23 assists for 51 points in 14 career NCAA Tournament games; he is Johns Hopkins' career leader in goals, assists and points in the NCAA Tournament.
 
In addition to his exploits on the field, Rabil was equally successful in the classroom as he earned Third Team CoSIDA Academic All-America honors as a junior and second team as a senior.  He is one of just two men's lacrosse players in school history to twice earn CoSIDA Academic All-America honors.
 
With Rabil leading the way, Johns Hopkins posted a 49-15 record, won two NCAA Championships (2005, 2007) and finished as the national runner-up once (2008) from 2005-08.
 
After graduating from Johns Hopkins, Rabil moved on to the international and professional ranks and enjoyed a remarkable post-collegiate career.
 
He was a member of Team USA at the 2010, 2014 and 2018 FIL Championships and helped the United States win world titles in 2010 and 2018 with a runner-up finish in 2014.  He was named the tournament MVP in 2010, grabbed All-World honors in 2010 and 2014 and was also named the Outstanding Midfielder at the 2010 and 2014 championships.
 
Professionally, Rabil was the number one pick in the 2008 Major League Lacrosse (MLL) Draft and went on to a 14-year career that included 11 seasons in the MLL before he co-founded the Premier Lacrosse League (PLL) with his brother, Mike, and played three seasons (2019-2021) there.  In addition, he played five seasons (2009-13) of professional indoor lacrosse in the National Lacrosse League (NLL).
 
Rabil retired in 2021 as the most prolific scorer in professional outdoor lacrosse history.  He amassed 657 points over his 14-year professional career and added 161 points in five indoor seasons.
 
Rabil's list of professional honors include winning a pair of MLL titles (2011, 2015), earning All-MLL and MLL MVP and Offensive Player of the Year honors multiple times.
 
In addition to founding the PLL, Rabil's other projects have included the Paul Rabil Experience and Project Nine lacrosse training.  He also founded the Paul Rabil Foundation in 2011 with his brother, mother and father to aid children with learning disabilities.  His organization has provided scholarships to students with learning differences, provided sports equipment to public schools and helped form and build lacrosse programs at schools in a number of different states.
 
The newest members will be officially inducted during a dinner ceremony in Baltimore on January 11, 2025 at the Renaissance Baltimore Harborplace Hotel.  Tickets will be available beginning on October 21 at USALacrosse.com.
