Francis Meyer has been named the Centennial Conference Defensive Player of the Year it was announced this morning. Meyer is joined on the All-Centennial Conference team by graduate students
Logan Falzarano and
Mikkel Andersen and seniors
Will Sangpachatanaruk and
Ian Whamond.
Meyer, Andersen and Sangpachatanaruk each earned First Team All-CC honors. Falzarano was named to the second team and Whamond was named honorable mention. Hopkins has now produced 169 All-CC selections, including 77 first team honorees. JHU has had at least three first team honorees in four of the last five years and 17 times since 1997.
Meyer is the second Blue Jay to earn CC Defensive Player of the Year honors since the award was introduced in 2022. He earns all-conference honors for the third straight year after earning first team honors in 2022 and second team honors in 2023. Meyer anchors the midfield and is a key part of the Blue Jay defense. On the offensive end, he leads the team in points (18), is tied for the lead in goals (6) and ranks second in assists (6).
Andersen has started all 19 games on defense in his first season at Homewood. A four-year starter, Falzarano garners all-conference honors for the third time in his career. The pair lead a Hopkins' defense that ranks second in the conference in goals against average (0.884) and has posted eight shutouts. The Blue Jays have held their opponents to single digits in shots on goal in 16 of 19 games.
Sangpachatanaruk earns all-conference honors for the first time after posting career highs in goals (3), assists (8) and points (14). His eight assists lead the team and are tops in the Centennial Conference. Two of his three goals were game-winners and he had a career-best two assists in the semifinal win over Dickinson.
Whamond becomes just the ninth player in program history to earn All-Centennial Conference honors for the fourth time. He is tied for the team lead with a career-high six goals and ranks fourth with 12 points. Whamond is Hopkins' active career leader in goals (14) and points (39).
Liam Bridges was named to the All-Sportsmanship Team. The junior defender has played in all 19 games and started 14 this season.
