BALTIMORE, MD – On the third and final day of the Loyola H20unds Invitational, Johns Hopkins posted five NCAA B cuts and accumulated 750 points. The Blue Jays finished in second place with 1305 points, behind the host Greyhounds.
Hopkins took third place in the 400 Medley Relay to open the final night of competition. The team of
Bryce Lloyd,
Jonathan Wang,
Avery Clapp and
Jay Heymann combined for an NCAA B cut of 3:16.37. In addition, Lloyd's lead-off leg of 49.19 was also a B cut as well as a career-best.
Jack Cornish then turned in a B cut with a third-place finish and a time of 15:50.14 in the 1650 Free.
The Blue Jays then went five-six-seven in the A Final of the 200 Back. Lloyd led the way with a swim of 1:4.90. His prelim swim of 1:46.15 is the sixth fastest in program history and a B cut.
Matthew Hartshorn turned in a career-best time of 1:50.53 for seventh and
Josiah March finished in 1:52.02 for eighth. His morning swim of 1:51.22 is a career best.
Adam Sandid took third place in the B Final of the 100 Free with a career-best swim of 46.15.
Christian Mayr and Heymann finished in a tie for fourth in 46.39.
Eric Ji then led a trio of Blue Jays in the A Final of the 200 Breast. He clocked in at 2:02.03 for fourth place.
Larkin Helman followed in sixth (2:03.08) and
Joe Castagno took eighth (2:05.78).
Clapp swam to a runner-up finish in the A Final of the 200 Fly. His time of 1:46.83 is the seventh fastest in program history and is a B cut.
Rad Couture took fourth place with a swim of 1:50.21, followed by
Jonik Surprenant in seventh (1:53.15) and
Aden Li in eighth (1:56.08).
Will Dunlap won the B Final as he turned in a career-best swim of 1:53.87.
Hopkins wrapped up the weekend with a fourth-place finish in the 400 Free Relay. Mayr, Wang,
Daniel Byrnes and
Andrew Gilbert combined for a time of 3:06.02.
JHU is back in the pool on Friday, December 6 for the Blue Jays' home opener. Hopkins will host Rowan at 4:00 pm in the Newton White Aquatic Center.
