ROSEMONT, IL – For the third time this season, Johns Hopkins graduate student
Beaudan Szuluk has been named the Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week it was announced by the league today. Szuluk helped the Blue Jays to an 11-10 overtime win at Ohio State on Sunday night in their only game of the week.

This is the third time this season and the third time in his career that Szuluk has been honored as the Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week. This is also the 14th time a Hopkins player has earned the award since the league added men's lacrosse in 2015 and the fifth time a Blue Jay has been honored this season.

Szuluk collected three caused turnovers in the win and helped the Blue Jay defense hold the Buckeyes to just three goals in the final 36:04 to fuel the come-from-behind victory. Johns Hopkins held Ohio State scoreless for stretches of 14:13 and 17:49 during the game and Szuluk's third caused turnover in the game came in overtime and eventually led to the game-winning goal.

In addition, Szuluk became Johns Hopkins' career leader in caused turnovers in the victory over the Buckeyes. His three CTs in the win pushed his career total to 67, which moved him past Tucker Durkin (2010-13) for the top spot.

In 12 games this season, Szuluk has 27 ground balls and 19 caused turnovers to his credit. He leads the team in caused turnovers and ranks fourth in ground balls. In his career, Szuluk has played in 54 games with 41 starts and has 81 ground balls and the 67 caused turnovers to his credit.

Johns Hopkins (9-3, 4-0 B1G) will return to action on Saturday, April 20 when the Blue Jays welcome Maryland (8-3, 3-1 B1G) to Homewood Field (4 pm / ESPNU).
