PHILADELPHIA, PA – The Johns Hopkins women's track & field team put together a number of impressive performances at this weekend's Penn Relays, highlighted by the 4x400 team and 4x800 team toppling meet and Centennial Conference records respectively.
Competition began with the 3000-meter steeplechase in which
Sara Stephenson finished in 22
nd with a time of 10:42.90. The graduate student's time ranks among the best in program history and is currently the eighth quickest in Division III.
Friday's events consisted of a pair of relays in the DMR and 4x400, the latter of which the Blue Jays set an event record. Starting with the DMR,
Eleni Alvarez,
Lianne Saussy,
Lily Tremba and
Adriana Catalano combined to finished seventh with a time of 11:53.80 before
Anna Zaeske,
Annie Huang,
Lauren Phillips and Saussy took first and set an event record in the 4x400 with their time of 3:51.81.
The meet ended Saturday with the 4x800, in which Huang,
Mackenzie Setton,
Lorna Arcese and
Emma Kothari took home fourth with a Centennial Conference and program record time of 8:57.87. Huang and Setton were looked especially strong in the relay, putting together almost identical splits of 2:12.64 and 2:12.62 to lead Hopkins to the top-five finish.
Next up for Hopkins are the Centennial Conference Championships, with action set to begin Friday, May 3.
