ALLENTOWN, PA – The Johns Hopkins wrestling team closed out the pre-Thanksgiving portion of its 2025-26 schedule with a strong showing at Muhlenberg's Scott Wood Invitational on Saturday. The Blue Jays produced one champion, two third-place finishers, and three others placed in the top six to lead the way for Johns Hopkins.

In the team standings, the Blue Jays placed fourth with 68.5 points. Messiah won the team title with 163.5 points, while Elizabethtown (154), Muhlenberg (104.5), Johns Hopkins and Washington & Jefferson (60) rounded out the top five.

Junior
Freddy Pimental (149) earned the second tournament title of his career as he went 5-0 on the day with three technical falls, a decision and a major decision to his credit. Pimental opened with three consecutive wins by technical fall, outscoring his first three opponents by a combined score of 47-0.Â

After advancing through the semifinals with a 12-5 win over Messiah's
Jacob Cunningham, he topped Muhlenberg's
Eoghan O'Hara, 16-3, in the finals to grab his title. Pimental used four takedowns, including two in the third period, to fuel his victory.

Grabbing third-place finishes on the day for the Blue Jays were sophomore
Giorgio Difalco (149) and
AJ Gordon (174), who both followed the same script to bronze by collecting five consecutive wins after dropping their first match of the day. Gordon counted three wins by decision, a technical fall and a win by medical forfeit to his credit, while Difalco had a pair of bonus-point wins on the day (technical fall, major decision).

Rounding out the Blue Jays' place-winners were
Jacob Pomykata (285),
Brennan McGrann (157) and
Kadin Khalloufi (174). Pomykata placed fourth, while McGrann and Khalloufi were fifth and sixth, respectively.

Johns Hopkins will return to action Saturday, December 6 at Elizabethtown's Blue Jay Classic.
