Ava Angello has been named the Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week it was announced today. This is the first weekly conference honor of her career. She is the second consecutive Blue Jay to earn the honor and third this season to be honored by the Big Ten.
Angello led Hopkins to a come-from-behind win at eighth-ranked Syracuse on Monday afternoon. She scored six goals on just nine shots as the Blue Jays rallied from an early 6-1 deficit to win 14-13 in overtime. Three of her six goals came on free position, in a span of just three minutes and 13 seconds.
Angello ranks second on the team with 22 goals and 29 points. Her sixth goal of the game gave her 150 points for her career.
Hopkins returns to action on Sunday, March 16 at USC in both teams' Big Ten Opener.
