Grumbles Garners Centennial Pitcher of the Week Honors

LANCASTER, PA – After leading the Blue Jays to a shutout over Catholic Wednesday night, Johns Hopkins baseball's Drew Grumbles has been named the Centennial Pitcher of the Week. This is the sophomore's first career conference honor and makes him the first Blue Jay of the season to be recognized.

Grumbles led Hopkins to a shutout over Catholic, 9-0, picking up his fourth win of the season. The Maumelle, Arkansas native hurled 7.1 innings and allowed just one hit while striking out 10 to pick up the victory against the Cardinals. He allowed just two base runners through six innings – one of which reached on an error and another on a hit by pitch – and didn't allow a hit until an infield single in the seventh.

Across seven appearances Grumbles' ERA now sits at 0.31 over 29.1 innings of work, amassing 42 strikeouts. He leads the Centennial Conference in ERA and punch outs, sitting in second in ERA among all active Division III pitchers.

Hopkins returns to action tonight Tuesday, April 1 taking on Gettysburg with first pitch scheduled for 3:30 PM.
