Box Score FREDERICKSBURG, VA – Johns Hopkins won four of six singles matches to top 32
nd-ranked NC Wesleyan, 4-3, on Sunday morning. The Blue Jays improve to 6-7 on the season while the Bishops fall to 7-12 overall.
NC Wesleyan grabbed an early 1-0 lead in the match with wins at one and three doubles. Albert Sitwell and Luca Knese won 6-1 over
Daniel Ardila and
Dylan Blenkiron at one. Bohdan Zhylchuk and Francesco Raparo won by the same score at three versus
Marco Azar and
Mukundh Boopathi.
Blenkiron beat Diego Segovia 6-1, 7-6 (2) at number one singles.
Zahari Stoimenov won 7-5, 6-1 at three over Zhylchuk. Boopathi earned a 6-1, 6-3 win over Alvaro Gomez at six.
Knese won for the Bishops, beating
Chakor Rajendra 7-5, 6-1 at number two singles. Sitwell topped Azar 7-5, 6-3 at four and the teams were tied at 3-3. Gong grabbed the win for the Blue Jays when he rallied to beat Bernardo Messineo 5-7, 7-5, 6-3 at number five.
Hopkins is back in action on Saturday, April 12 with a 3:00 pm match at Gettysburg.
