Double Honors for Leblond

First Male Athlete in Program History to Receive National Award

BALTIMORE, MD – Following a third overall individual performance at the Virginia Invitational, Johns Hopkins senior Emmanuel Leblond has earned national and conference recognition, being named M-F Athletic National Athlete of the Week and Centennial Conference Athlete of the Week.

This marks the first time in program history that a Johns Hopkins male athlete has received the national honor during the cross country season. Additionally, this is Leblond's first conference weekly honor of the season and makes him the first Blue Jay to be recognized.

In his season debut, Leblond powered the Blue Jays to a second-place finish in a competitive nine-team field at the Virginia Invitational. The team accumulated 59 points, finishing just behind the meet hosts, Division I sixth-ranked Virginia, who scored 18 points. Leading the charge for Hopkins, the senior clocked in at 23:58.8 to secure third overall, trailing only two Cavaliers.

Hopkins returns to the course on Friday, October 3, in Bethlehem, PA where they'll compete in the Paul Short Invitational.
