Meert Named D3Baseball.com Preseason All-American

BALTIMORE, MD – Johns Hopkins junior Grant Meert earned preseason recognition as he was named a D3Baseball.com preseason All-American, announced Wednesday. This marks the third straight year Hopkins has had at least one student-athlete named a preseason All-American.

Meert was picked as a preseason Third Team All-American following a breakout sophomore campaign in which the southpaw emerged as the Blue Jays' closer. The 2025 Elite 90 recipient and All-America Fifth Teamer, led the bullpen with six saves and 42 strikeouts across 22.2 innings, compiling a 1.19 ERA allowing only three earned runs and 17 hits—three of which were extra base hits. Last season, the Ballwin, MO native earned the save against Case Western Reserve, securing Hopkins' third Super Regional Title and seventh trip to the Division III World Series, tossing 1.2 scoreless innings, surrendering just two hits while striking out two.

Hopkins kicks off the season in just over a month, with their first game of the year against Rutgers-Newark set for Friday, February 20. First pitch is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. at Babb Field at Stromberg Stadium.
