BALTIMORE, MD – In the annual battle of the Blue Jays, it was visiting Elizabethtown that won seven of nine contested bouts to fuel a 40-10 victory over Johns Hopins in non-conference wrestling action in Goldfarb Gymnasium on Friday night. The win bumps Etown's record to 5-2 and the Blue Jays win the Blue Jay Belt, which is presented to the winner of the annual meeting between the two teams, for the sixth consecutive year. Johns Hopkins slips to 1-10 on the year.

Where The Match Was Won
Elizabethtown led just 14-10 after five bouts as Johns Hopkins grabbed back-to-back bonus-point wins at 149 and 157 to trim what had been a 14-0 deficit to 14-10.

Etown took over from there by winning the last five bouts, including three by fall and one by technical fall.Â
Justice Hockenberry-Folk sprung the five-bout run for EC with an 8-3 decision of
Connor Powell at 165.

Gannon Smith followed with first-period pins at 174 and 184, respectively, and 11
th-ranked
Will Davis scored a 17-0 technical fall at 197 to make it 34-10. At 285,
Sav Niewiadomy capped the night for the Blue Jays as he led
Jacob Pomykata 9-3 with less than 15 seconds remaining before scoring a late takedown and pin to account for the final 40-10 final score.

Johns Hopkins picked up its two wins from junior
Freddy Pimental at 149 and sophomore
Giorgio Difaclo at 157. Pimental raced out to a 10-1 lead on the strength of two takedowns and four near-fall points before quicky working
Stephen Bialek to his back and sticking him with 15 seconds remaining in the opening period.

Difalco followed with an 18-5 major decision of
Michael Beers. Difalco led 6-1 after one period and 8-1 entering the final period. In the third, he scored three more takedowns to build a 17-3 lead and cruised to the 18-5 victory.

Pimental's pin was the 19
th of his career and the 52
nd bonus-point victory among his now 72 career wins. Difalco's major decision was the 10
th of his career and the 29
th bonus-point victory among his 48 career wins.
