PHILADELPHIA, PA – The Johns Hopkins men's track and field team competed Friday at the Penn Relays, hosted by the University of Pennsylvania, and the Carpenter Case Invitational, hosted by McDaniel, totaling seven top-10 finishes and several performances that rank among the best in program history and Division III this season.
At the Penn Relays, the Blue Jays were represented by a single relay squad on day two of competition. The 4x400-meter relay team of
Josh Lee,
Spencer Ye,
Samson Dessalines and
Alex Colletti delivered a standout performance, placing second overall with a time of 3:18.59. The mark ranks 34
th in Division III this season and sixth-fastest in program history.
At the Carpenter Case Invitational, Hopkins recorded six top-five finishes, highlighted by
Luke DeBaugh. DeBaugh secured the Blue Jays' lone event victory of the day, winning the javelin with a throw of 47.16 meters.
Hopkins also turned in a strong showing in the discus, with three Blue Jays recording top-15 finishes.
Alexander Williams led the group with a second-place throw of 41.75 meters, followed by
Ryan Braga in third at 40.34 meters.
Alexander Yeon added a 13
th-place finish with a mark of 28.45 meters.
Braga added to his strong day with a second-place finish in the hammer throw, posting a mark of 47.92 meters that ranks second all-time in program history.
In the 100-meter dash, Colletti and
Colin Harte rounded out the Blue Jays' performances at McDaniel. Colletti placed second in 11.13, while Harte followed closely in third with a time of 11.18.
Hopkins returns to action Saturday, April 25, to conclude competition at the Penn Relays.
