BALTIMORE, MD – Johns Hopkins earned a first round bye to the 2026 NCAA Tournament and will travel to NC Wesleyan for an NCAA Regional this weekend. The Blue Jays (15-6) are making their 20
th straight NCAA Tournament appearance and earned a bye for the 16
th time.
The NC Wesleyan Regional
Hopkins will take on the winner of host NC Wesleyan (14-8) and Albright (15-4) in the second round on Saturday, May 9. In the other half of the regional, Emory (12-10) will face the winner of Stevens (14-5) and Penn State Harrisburg (11-7) in the second round. Saturday's winners will meet in the regional final on Sunday.
JHU's NCAA Tournament History
The Blue Jays have made every NCAA Tournament since 2006 and are 25-19 all-time in the tournament. Hopkins has won its opening match in 15 of its last 16 tournament appearances. This is the sixth straight year that Hopkins has earned a bye in the first round. JHU has made 15 NCAA Sweet 16 appearances and six in the Elite Eight.
Series History
Johns Hopkins and NC Wesleyan have met 18 times previously, including last month. The Blue Jays lead the all-time series 12-6 and are 2-2 in NCAA Tournament matches against the Bishops. Hopkins and Emory have met 14 times, with the Eagles leading the series 11-3. The two met back in February at the ITA Indoor Championship and JHU grabbed a 4-3 win. Hopkins and Stevens have met three times and JHU is 3-0 in the series. Hopkins has never faced Albright or Penn State Harrisburg.
What's Next
The winner of the NC Wesleyan Regional will take on the winner of the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Regional which also includes East Texas Baptist, Colorado College and Sewanee on Tuesday, May 19. The NCAA Quarterfinals, Semifinals and Championship will take place at Champions Tennis Club in Chattanooga, TN. JHU has advanced to the NCAA Quarterfinals six times (2012, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2021, 2025) with one semifinals appearance (2021).
