Allen Gong and
Chakor Rajendra have been selected to the 2026 NCAA Individual Tennis Championships it was announced last night. Gong will compete in the singles championship and will pair with Rajendra for the doubles championship
The individual championships consist of 32 singles players and 16 doubles teams. The selection of teams and individuals for the championships is based on won-lost record, strength of schedule and eligibility and availability of student-athletes. The team championship will take place May 19-22, with the individual championships following May 23-26. Champions Tennis Club in Chattanooga, TN will host both championships.
This is the second consecutive year and 17
th time since 2007 that Johns Hopkins has had a player selected for the NCAA Singles Championship. This is Gong's first career selection for singles or doubles. Hopkins will send a doubles pair to the NCAAs for the second straight year and 13
th time since 2008. This is Rajendra's second selection to the NCAA Championships, but first for doubles. Gong is the seventh player in program history selected to both the singles and doubles championships in the same season.
Gong is currently ranked 17
th in the nation in singles and is 21-8 on the season. He is tied for eighth in program history with 58 career singles' wins. Gong and Rajendra are ranked 16
th in the nation in doubles and boast a 16-10 record. Gong is tied for 10
th in JHU history with 61 career doubles' wins and Rajendra is tied for 21
st with 50 career wins.
