Haverford, PA - The Johns Hopkins women's fencing team won all four of its duals Sunday afternoon on the campus of Haverford College. The Blue Jays defeated Yeshiva, 25-2, New Jersey Tech, 22-5, Army, 17-10, and Haverford, 16-11.
Senior Georgiana Lee (Bakersfield, CA/Stockdale) led the Hopkins epee squad with a 10-0 mark, while senior Christina Giblin (Toronto, CA/Phillips Exeter Academy) won all eight of her duals in the foil. Sophomore Liz Ordun (Belle Mead, NJ/Montgomery) went 6-1 in the foil, including two key wins against Haverford, while freshman Joanna Kochaniak (Murrysville, PA/Franklin Regional) also went 6-1 in her first series of starts at Hopkins.
Freshman Sarah Smilow (Smithtown, NY/Smithtown) went 9-1 in the sabre for the Blue Jays, while sophomore Kate Dunne (Beacon, NY/Beacon) went 9-3 and freshman Kimberly Strazdas (Westford, MA/Westford Academy) went 6-6 in her first series of starts.
The Hopkins foil squad went 31-5 on the day, while the epee team was 26-10 and the sabre team finished 23-13.
