Box Score

GETTYSBURG, PA - The Johns Hopkins baseball team tied the score at seven in the fifth inning, but it wasn't enough to overcome Gettysburg as the Bullets avenged their loss in the Centennial season opener with a 9-7 victory over the Blue Jays on Friday. The Bullets used their home-field advantage, scoring four runs in the second inning to jump ahead, 4-3.

Hopkins scored its first run after Todd Emr doubled to score Dan Merzel in the first inning. Chris Huisman flied out to left field as Ryan Biner came around to score on the sacrifice for the Blue Jays' second run.

In the second, Gettysburg would score four runs in two field errors to take the 4-3 lead.

JHU would not score again until the fifth, rallying for four runs. Emr scored first before Dave Kahn hit a home run to score Huisman and Jesse Sikorski to tie it at seven.

Stabert reached in the seventh for Gettysburg after being hit by a Garrett Gomez pitch. Sam Stabert would score on a Cam Riera single to tally the eighth run for the Bullets.

Gettysburg went 1-2-3 on defense in the eighth and ninth innings to put Hopkins away, scoring its last run in the eighth inning to earn the 9-7 victory.

The Blue Jays (8-8, 1-1 CC) host Ursinus on Saturday, March 28 for a Centennial Conference doubleheader. First pitch is slated for 12:30 p.m.
