BALTIMORE, MD - Stephen Bejsiuk (Moorestown, NJ/Moorestown) hit three home runs and had six RBIs in the Johns Hopkins baseball team's 13-4 win over visiting Washington College. Hopkins' winning streak is now at 20 games. The Blue Jays are now 28-3 overall and 14-0 in the Centennial Conference while the Shoremen fall to 12-12 overall and 7-7 in the conference.
Dave Kahn (New Hyde Park/Herricks) had two hits in the game, including a home run, and three RBIs. James Teta (Centereach, NY/Sachem) had a triple and a double with two RBIs. Chris Huisman (Davidsonville, MD/Archbishop Spalding) and John Swarr (Radnor, PA/Conestoga) each had two hits in the game.
Kevin Rolewicz had two hits, including a home run, while Matt Boucher also had two hits in the game for the Shoremen.
Rolewicz put Washington on the board with a two-run home run in the top of the first but Kahn tied the game for Hopkins with a two-run home run in the bottom of the first.
James Teta (Centereach, NY/Sachem) hit an RBI triple in the second to put Hopkins ahead, 3-2.
Washington scored two unearned runs in the third on three Hopkins errors. The Blue Jays took the lead right back with four runs in the bottom of the inning, three of which were unearned. Kahn had an RBI single and Bejsiuk hit a three-run home run to right field.
Bejsiuk hit a home run in the fifth and another in seventh for three on the day. Teta and Swarr both had RBI doubles in the seventh to give Hopkins a 12-4 lead after seven innings.
Anthony Venditti (Export, PA/Grennsburg Central Catholic) hit an RBI single in the eighth to put one more run on the board for the Blue Jays.
Marco Simmons (Baltimore, MD/Gilman) earned the win for Hopkins allowing four runs, two earned, on five hits in seven innings. Simmons had four strikeouts in the game. He is now 5-1 on the season.
Joe Kearney-Argow took the loss for the Shoremen, allowing seven runs, four earned, on six hits in three innings pitched.
Hopkins had 15 hits in the game and committed five errors while Washington had six hits and committed one error.
The Blue Jays return to action tomorrow in a conference doubleheader at Muhlenberg. First pitch is scheduled for 12:30 pm
