LANCASTER, PA - The 10th-ranked Johns Hopkins women's tennis team earned a 9-0 win at Franklin & Marshall on Tuesday afternoon to move to 3-0 in the Centennial Conference. The Blue Jays improve to 6-4 overall while the Diplomats fall to 3-5 on the season and 0-2 in conference matches. Senior Courtney Boger won her 74th career match to move to ninth all-time in program history.
Boger and freshman Kaitlin Pfisterer opened the match with a quick 8-0 win at first doubles over Danielle Weiner and Anya Sahaydachny. Freshman Carolyn Drogt and sophomore Lauren Fields followed with an 8-3 win over Julia Fiala and Nina Simic. Junior Andrea Berlinghof and freshman Macie Wilkins closed out doubles play with a 9-7 win at second over Megan FitzMaurice and Dana Sleeper.
The Blue Jays took a 4-0 lead after Sahaydachny retired at second singles. Berlinghof led 5-0 in the first set when she retired. Pfisterer was a 6-2, 6-2 winner at first as she beat Weiner. Boger earned her 74th career total win with a 6-3, 6-3 decision against FitzMaurice at third. She now ranks ninth in school history, just one win shy of tying Yasmine Elamir for eighth. Wilkins won at fourth, beating Sleeper 6-2, 6-2 and Fields won 6-4, 6-3 over Fiala at fifth. Drogt lost just two games in a 6-2, 6-0 win at sixth over Simic.
Hopkins returns to the court on Saturday, March 31 when the Ursinus Bears visit Baltimore. The Centennial Conference tilt is slated for a 3:00 pm start.
