ALLENTOWN, PA - The eighth-ranked Johns Hopkins women's tennis team beat host Muhlenberg, 9-0, and is now the last unbeaten team in the Centennial Conference. The Blue Jays improve to 10-4 overall and at 7-0 sit atop the conference standings. The Mules slip to 4-6 overall and 4-4 in the Centennial.
Hopkins did not lose a game in quickly sweeping the doubles matches to take a 3-0 lead in the match. Sophomore Hailey Hogan and junior Nandita Krishnan won 8-0 over Nina Sanders and Emily Szulman at first. Freshman Shannon Herndon and sophomore Abby Clark were 8-0 winners at second as they beat Sharen Resnikoff and Amanda von Taube. And at third, freshman Elanie Baik and Stephanie Rettig defeated Jennifer Goldberg and Grace Jenkins, 8-0.
In singles, Krishnan won her first set, 6-2, at first and was up 3-0 in the second when Sanders retired. Junior Andrea Berlinghof did not drop a game in a 6-0, 6-0 win over Rasnikoff at third. While freshman Kaitlin Pfisterer beat Goldberg, 6-2, 6-2 at second. With the match decided and three courts available due to the doubleheader with the men, fourth through sixth singles were played in eight-game pro sets. Freshman Shannon Libaw needed only the minimum eight games to beat Emily Robbins, 8-0, at sixth. Senior Courtney Boger beat von Taube, 8-1, at fifth. While freshman Macie Wilkins won by an identical score over Jenkins at fifth.
