2013 EWFC Individual Champions 
HOBOKEN, NJ - Johns Hopkins junior Katherine Simeon and freshman Rachel Viqueira took home Denise O'Connor Fencer of the Year honors in the Sabre and Foil, respectively on Sunday at the 2013 Eastern Women's Fencing Conference (EWFC) Individual Championship. In addition, the Blue Jays placed six fencers on the EWFC All-Conference teams.
Simeon went 16-1 on Saturday to win her second straight EWFC Sabre title. She takes home First Team EWFC All-Conference honors for the third straight season. Simeon is now 63-16 on the season and 244-87 for her career. In addition, freshman Ji Young Nam placed 15th with a 3-14 record on the day.
Viqueira won 17 of her 18 bouts to win the EWFC Foil title and earn First Team All-EWFC honors. She is the fourth JHU fencer to win the EWFC Foil title since 2009. Viqueira improves to 61-14 on the season. Junior Jackie Heath finished in fourth place with a 15-3 record and earns First Team All-EWFC honors for the second time her career. She improves to 56-18 on the season and 224-85 in her career. Freshman Ashley Lau finished in seventh place after going 12-6. She earns Second Team All-EWFC honors and is now 44-25 in her rookie campaign.
Sophomore Gianna Puzzo improved on a seventh-place finish at last year's championship by going 14-3 to take silver in the Epeé. She improves to 52-26 on the season and 132-64 in her career, as she earns First Team All-EWFC accolades. Taking sixth place was freshman Kelly Seeger with an 11-6 record. She earned Second Team All-EWFC honors and improves to 26-30 on the season. Sophomore Ilana Regenbogen placed 12th with a 7-10 record as she improves to 9-24 this season in the Epeé.
