• The Short Story: Host Stockton scored four second-half goals to come from behind and beat the Johns Hopkins field hockey team, 5-3, Thursday night. The Blue Jays drop their final non-conference game of the season as they fall to 4-5. The Ospreys snap a four-game losing streak as they improve to 2-6.
How it Happened
• Johns Hopkins jumped on top of Stockton when senior Kiana Duncan scored her first goal of the season just 2:50 into the contest. She scored on a blast from the middle of the circle off a pass from freshman Grace Hillman.
• The Blue Jays doubled their lead at the 15:34-mark when freshman Megan Ophel put back her own rebound for her first career goal.
• Stockton started its come back with a goal just 40 seconds before the end of the half. Sarah Fisher tipped in a shot from Sarah Gawrysiak to make it a 2-1 game at the break.
• Less than seven minutes into the second half, Alicia Belko scored off her own rebound to tie the game. Alexa Massa then put the Ospreys ahead with a penalty stroke goal at 51:09.
• Just over seven minutes later, Belko tipped a crossing pass by Leah Davies past sophomore Greta Helvie to stake Stockton to a 4-2 lead. Massa made it a three-goal game with 10:01 to play in the game with her second penalty stroke of the game.
• Hopkins pulled within two at the 65:04-mark as sophomore Morgan Pothast scored from the right side of the circle.
What it Means
• This was the first-ever meeting between Johns Hopkins and Stockton in field hockey.
Inside the Box Score
• Sophomore Greta Helvie finished with seven saves in the loss. Emily Sorochynskyi made six saves to earn the win.
• Junior Shannon Cosgrove made her third defensive save of the season.
• Stockton outshot Hopkins, 19-10, and had eight more corners (14-6).
